Overview:
With a high IQ and master programming/hacking skills you would expect Miki to be somewhat of a successful, confident woman who is probably already running her own company. However you would be wrong to assume that as she is nothing like that, she is a shy, reclusive woman who has Avoidance personality disorder meaning that she avoids people as much as possible.
She has low self-esteem and thinks that she’s not a very smart woman believing that her brother was much smarter than her. Because of this she doesn’t speak her mind and is more willing to let a thought pass her even if said thought was the correct one because she thinks that she’ll just get laughed at.
She suffers from survivor’s guilt as a result of her being the only survivor of a house fire that killed her whole family. She believes that she shouldn’t have survived and that she couldn’t compare to her more intellectual parents or older brother; she also suffers from panic/anxiety attacks whenever she sees fire because of her traumatic past.

History
Miki was born to the prestigious Tanbe family who were well known for bring forth countless generations of intellectuals and geniuses. Her own father was a genius that worked frequently with prestigious scientific communities while her mother was a biologist who worked with the CDC while her brother was an expert in creating sculptures. Miki, even before the incident, felt that she could not live up to the expectations of the Tanbe family as she did not see herself as clever as any of her family members. This contributed to her low self-esteem and she was frequently bullied at school resulting in developing Avoidance Personality Disorder as she would spend hours on end cooped up inside the computer labs where she began to find a passion in programming.
However even when she did find that she had a gift for programming and creating programs she still was not satisfied as she did not think that it was a worthy talent to have for a Tanbe. So she kept it hidden from her family and only worked on her programming skills when she was alone and had nothing to do, later it branched off to hacking as she managed to hack one of her father’s computers and shut it down remotely causing problems though she was never caught.
Tragedy struck Miki’s family when her house became the target of an arson attack due to an activist that was against one of the projects her father was working on. Miki was saved by her brother, but he went back to the home to save his parents ultimately perishing alongside them. This had a profound impact on her life as she developed survivor’s guilt because of her low self-esteem and constantly question why she survived while her entire family didn’t.
She was taken in by an uncle of hers who found her talent in programming and enrolled her in MIT where she excelled in all programming courses and was even offered a job in the United State’s Cyber Command. But Miki, being the reclusive person, refused the position and returned to Japan where up to this day she became a freelance programmer and never hacked a computer unless it was for the right reason.
One day while she was inside her apartment a curious cat leapt into her room surprising her as she was at a high enough level for no ordinary cats be able to reach; the cat dropped a bracelet and then dashed out leaving a perplexed Miki with a bracelet she doesn’t even know about.
