Overview:
Emma can be complicated. She has a few different sides to herself, most of which are just for specific situations. Her family is wealthy, and she’s expected to act a certain way by her parents, so with them and with friends she’s made in that life, she has one personality.
She acts a bit spoiled and bratty. She usually comes off as disinterested in things and more focused on possessions, ignoring people so she can text (her actual friends, usually), things like that. She is more focused on possession in this time, mostly to play the part of a spoiled brat.
She hates herself when she has to play that part. She holds a lot of disinterest and disrespect towards her parents, primarily because she hates it and they wouldn’t like it if she was her real self. She hates hating them like that, but they’re not the greatest parents.
Her real self is more attuned to the way she acts around her realer friends. She’s outgoing with this attitude, and does a lot of things she’d never do with her family or those friends around. She has a motorcycle, and loves the freedom it offers. She’s decent with a skateboard too, and enjoys doing that. She’s getting better.
She’s brave and will do whatever there is to do. She’s not really afraid of failure, and will do things that she knows she’s not good with just to get better, even if people are watching. This mostly applies to skating stuff, like tricks. She’s also confident by extension, and is resolute in what she does. She knows that when she does something it’s usually the right move, because she’s confident she can make it work regardless.
She’s upfront, and honest, and will tell you to your face what she thinks. She’s not afraid of backlash at that, because she expects honesty back. She thinks of honesty as one of the most important things, even if it hurts. Pain has to be passed, and being exposed to it is the best way to do that.
She’s emotional in that she cares about her friends and others around her a lot. Even her parents, whom she has a strained relationship with on her part. She feels for everyone, and really feels it when they hurt, or fail, or anything. She has a good heart, and is always there to talk about anything or to try to console.
She’s loyal and never falters in her loyalty to people. She does what she says she’ll do, she keeps secrets, all of that. She just won’t be loyal if there’s good reason not to be (broke her trust too many times, for instance), or if you’re doing something stupid/dangerous and someone needs to know. She’s also very trusting of people, although is aware when she’s being lied to or manipulated. Breaking her trust is a bad idea, because you’re not getting it back.
She’s not much of a funny person, or anything like that, and finds that any humor she gives is unintentional for the most part. It can be annoying since she usually doesn’t realize what she’s said until after she’s said it. It bugs her, but she’s found she can’t do much to work on that.
She has a strong belief in the existence of the supernatural. She enjoys going into old run down asylums, hospitals, things like that and looking for ghosts. They don’t scare her, or at least the idea doesn’t. An actual encounter? Yes. But the excitement is thrilling for her, and that’s what matters.
There are times she can be rather dense, that’s not overly uncommon for her. She just doesn’t realize some things, mostly because her focus is more importantly placed on other matters. She can be oblivious to some things, but is honed in on the important things, at least.
Easily put, she’s a tomboy more than anything else, and she likes that. She has no problems with being that way (except with her parents and stuff), but she isn’t as much of a tomboy as some are, she still retains some girlier elements so she can play the part of a stuck up daughter properly.

History
Emma’s father made his fortune in shipping, and his mother married him for his money. It was a loveless marriage, but she got money, he got an attractive woman to have sex with, and they had a daughter. The daughter at least made them warm up to each other, but not love each other. But it was a start.
Emma was brought up to be an heiress, to take over her father’s work someday (or rather, delegate the work to others and take in the money), and was expected to act a certain way by her parents. She was sent to private schools, made friends who also had rich families, and so on. She was expected to live and be brought up a certain way, and this was it.
Even though it was all Emma knew, she hated it. She knew there were other ways of living, and she wanted one of those other ways. When she was older she began to sneak out and make other friends. Real friends. She hid who she was, she hid her family’s wealth, and she became a normal girl.
She picked things up along the way. She picked up a fondness for skating, she picked up an allure to the mysteries of ghosts and ghost hunting, and things like that. It helped to shape her into who she believed she really was, given a chance that her parents wouldn’t give her.
She continued to live two lives. She lived the life of her parents desires, and she lived the life that she wanted, the one that she felt was her real life. She avoided the truth and kept it hidden from her parents and the friends she’d made in the life they’d forced on her.
Following the Zangyack’s assault she ended up watching as some people bid on remains of Zangyack ships, including her father. He bought a part of a ship, but couldn’t get inside of it. Emma went and looked at it on her own one day, wanting to get a look at it before some government officials would inevitably show up and confiscate it (and her father would simply get off by paying a bribe later, when it did indeed happen), and found her way inside.
Inside she found a Morpher and key, and decided to keep it for herself. She more or less understood what it was, but she wanted it, she wanted to have that sort of adventure, and most of all she wanted to keep it safe, in case someone tried to buy it from her father for the wrong reasons. And as such, she became a Ranger.
