Overview: A very single minded man, Grendel’s first loyalty is to the Emperor. He seems quite emotionally detached, believing certain ones, such as love, to be a hindrance on the battlefield. He seems to lack a conscience, being willing to do whatever is necessary in the eyes of the Emperor.

Abilities: In addition to the standard enhanced physical traits, the Mark V Echelon Psycho war vestments contain enhancements designed to dominate the battlefield. The suits are equipped with Phase Transistors, letting Psychos walk through walls. Wrist blasters have been added to the gauntlets. The helmet contains several different kinds of vision, including night, thermal, x-ray and telescopic. As an aesthetic choice on part of the Imperial Artificer, the mouthpiece contains a Decibel Amplifier, which acts as a supercharged microphone. It has caused deafness in some “lesser foes”.

History
Castus Grendel has a lineage tracing back to Lucius Grendel, the first Imperial Librarian. His heritage was the title that Lucius, and his father Malus, held; High Imperial Librarian, the collected knowledge of the Empire at his fingertips. As a child, he was quiet, calm, and innocent in the eyes of the world. None would expect that he was a killer deep down. However, he caught the attention of a certain Imperial higher-up clad in black when the Imperial Library was broken into. In a rage, Castus attacked and killed the intruder with a data-slate to the eyes.
He was brought to the lower levels of the Imperial Palace to begin his transformation from unassuming librarian’s son. As with acolytes before him and acolytes after, he was taught more refined ways of killing, and pitted in trial against other acolytes to prove himself a true devotee. His efforts were rewarded when he slew his final rival in a gladiatorial match. For his perseverance and skill, he was rewarded with the position of Psycho Black.
Psycho Black’s career has been a long and illustrious one, earning him both the respect and distrust of many a friend, and making enemies of others who would dare oppose the Emperor. He has survived assassination attempts, bombardments and the general grimness of war and risen to glory in the Emperor’s name.
