The Mirror Monsters were born from Yui and Shiro Kanzaki in their childhood. During the war they served as mindless beasts somehow tamed to some extent, and were used for covert operations, due to their ability to enter and exit reflective surfaces. The Riders who wielded Advent Decks were able to fight them more effectively, due to being able to enter the mirrors as well.
After the war ended, there was peace. However, people in Detroit started to disappear. It was slow at first, but picked up, until it became apparent what was going on. The Mirror Monsters were responsible. URSA helped with evacuation procedures and began to try to combat the monsters, but they were too numerous.
It was eventually determined that Detroit was where a few Riders had fallen, and their Advent Decks were in the city somewhere, drawing out the Mirror Monsters. Any attempts to retrieve them thus far have proved worthless.
