SAINT's Symbol
SAINT is the primary governing body in the world reigning over magic, as detailed in other places. Its main base is in Rome, with a number of other headquarters in; Tokyo, Hong Kong, Manhattan, London, Chamonix, Dresden, Cairo, Moscow, Brisbane, Barcelona, Reykjavik and Dublin. The leader of SAINT is a magical black cat called Ser Merlin Saberhagen Pounce (abbreviated to his title of Merlin), a creature of magical power who ascended into his current state of intelligence upon the death of the previous (human) Merlin's death. He possess a black collar with a hand symbol like the one worn on magic belts. He communicates solely through magic raven constructs carrying notes signed with a paw print in cyan ink.
While they are on good terms with URSA they have time and time again refused to join the alliance. The reason for this is not publicly known, but the leading assumptions are listed below. Which, if any of these, is true isn't publicly known.
- They Lack The Power To Contribute: This is unlikely given the power the incredible power of the Merlin alone. With that said, it is well known that the number of Gates that haven't fell to despair is dropping, so its possible that they don't have the numbers to fight in the war. It is also possible that they don't have the financial power to do anything or value.
- They Are A Charity Organization/They Simply Don't Want To: SAINT isn't a military, its a peace keeping organization, and therefore they don't want to be embroiled in the war as an organization.
- The Merlin Does Not Trust URSA: Merlin has went on record as stating that he is chaffed by the previous actions of Smart Brain (for there attempts to make humanity extinct), ZECT (Masato Mishima's actions), and Yggdrasil (Project Ark) but he has not went on record on his opinions of them as a whole.
SAINT's objective is summed up by its motto: "Protect The Past, Brighten The Present, Ensure The Future"
- Protect The Past: Protect The Past by making sure that the rich history of magic is documented and that the numerous magical artifacts and tomes of the past survive into the future.
- Brighten The Present: Brighten The Present by stopping the Phantoms from increasing in numbers and wiping out magic, as well as making sure that they do not wipe out those without magical talent. This is mostly handled by SAINT's Riders, as well as its charity branch Magic Today, which goes out of its way to find shelter, food, education, and entertainment for those displaced by Phantoms and other Kaijin, as well as natural disasters.
- Ensure The Future: Ensure The Future by training the next generation of Wizards.
There are also Seven Laws Of Magic that are, at best, frowned upon.
