Excavation (URSA/Open)

[The Sentinels]

Adriana jumped off the helicopter as she shielded her eyes against the sun. It was a warm day, but with the action around here it was going to get hotter soon as she saw truckloads of excavation equipment and bulldozers coming through the area. It was finally time to excavate one of the most important Rider gear in history, the Medajalibur, as it was a joint operation between the US military and one of America's biggest excavators. Adriana wasn't surprised that they had began to excavate the entire thing, there were a treasure trove of information about the Yummies, Core Medals and OOO, just from that piece of sword alone. Not to mention that there was a good chance that there were also Core Medals lying beside it after the Shocker-Rider War all those years ago. 

"Captain it's good to see you here," an officer said saluting her as she saluted back, "I"m Colonel Jefferson, I'm in charge of the whole operation," as Adriana nodded.

"Pleasure Colonel," she replied as Patriot flew down to her shoulder and squawked his greeting, "how goes the excavation?"

"So far so good, we've began digging around the Rider Monument, we don't know how deep the thing is embedded, but it shouldn't be embedded that much and we should be able to get it out with explosives," Jefferson reported.

"I wouldn't use explosives, we could dislodge the thing and send it flying to god knows where not to mention you probably send any Core Medals around it flying," Adriana remarked, "I would rather take this slowly and get it out safely rather than quickly."

"If that's your opinion I'll put it in consideration."

"No it's not a consideration it's an order, we want everything intact and accounted for. So don't use explosives to get it out."

"If that's the higher ups orders," as Adriana looked around the see throngs of tourists and media crew all around the place. It was no secret that they were doing the excavation and it had gotten a lot of media attention worldwide, "are security protocols in place?"

"Yes Captain I have Marines guarding the entire perimeter and no one goes in or out without proper clearance and ID checks," Jefferson said, "no media is allowed in as per orders. The whole place is as secure as Fort Knox."

"Hmm...we'll see," Adriana said as she began to walk towards the excavation site eager to see what kind of secrets that Medajilibur would bring to the world.

[Harper Garret]

Harper walked over to Adriana, her helmet off and her gun lowered. "How is the excavation going miss Washington?" she asked, her tone professional. She swept her eyes around the area, looking out for any kind of intruder. She was slightly on edge but tried to keep calm.

Adriana turned around and immediately scanned the person, her uniform indicated she was part of ZECT but she had made strict orders not to let any URSA personnel in, "How the- how did you get in here? I made orders for no URSA personnel to come inside," Adriana said.

[Harper Garret]

"URSA told me to watch your bsck" Harper said, shrugging. "I pointed out that you're a soldier, but they weren't having it. And since I like my job, I decided to see if I could get by your perimeter. Apparently I could, all it took was a fake cellphone number and a distracted guard southwest of here."

[The Sentinels]

Adriana didn't show any emotion as she closed her eyes and exhaled, "Is that so?" she simply said, "Then you are aware that anything that happens in America is under US jurisdiction," she said, "and I don't need any protection. I'm plenty enough with Patriot watching my back from afar," as Patriot flew off her shoulder and flew to the sky squawking loudly as she did so.

"Should I escort her out?" Jefferson asked.

"No let her stay, just keep watch on her," Adriana said as Jefferson nodded, "you may follow me, but do not attempt to retrieve the monument. For all intents and purposes...it's ours."

[Harper Garret]

"URSA respects that" Harper said with a nod. "However, the Arrow incident has a bit paranoid, so they assigned me to make sure everything goes smoothly. Kureshima simply wants to ensure that the load is secured."

[The Sentinels]

"Really?" Adriana asked knowing that it was probably a ruse, the US didn't trust URSA and that was fine with Adriana. She knew that URSA may be running the show now, but it won't take long for the US to catch up to where they were now. "Just keep in mind your position," she said as she began to walk towards the excavation area.

[Harper Garret]

"I'm just here to watch your back and report back to Kureshima" Harper said. "Do whatever you have to."

[The Sentinels]

Adriana didn't say anything as they went through a checkpoint as the soldiers stared at Harper suspiciously before they arrived at the dig site, there engineers and excavators were working tirelessly to get the monument. Adriana didn't know why it took so long for them to start excavation on the monument, maybe because of some sentimental feeling that the public had for those that died in the war; however right now they needed whatever powers they could get to win the fight against Shocker, "Any core medals found so far?" Adriana asked.


"Not at the moment Captain," Jefferson said, "we don't even know if there is a Core Medal around the vincinity. We have metal detectors combing through the entire area, but so far no joy," as Adriana nodded.


"Proceed with caution we don't know what kind of things may still be here," she said as Jefferson nodded.

"Will do Captain," as he walked away allowing Adriana closer to the monument as she observed it quietly. 

[Harper Garret]

Harper stayed out of her way, her safety off and her hand nowhere near the trigger. She was slightly annoyed with this asssignment; it was the field equivalent of a desk job given the amount of security around. She found a place to sit down and observe, not entirely sure what to do with herself.

Adriana approached the Medajalibur and looked at it, it was amazing that a single sword had the power to destroy a single mountain. She wondered who the person who used it was like as she inspected it carefully, "I don't suppose URSA has ever obtained any Core Medals?" she asked Harper.

[James Harper]

"I think we have a few" Harper said, pulling a notepad out with various notes from her superiors. "6 out of the known 63, none Purple, none Orange."

[The Sentinels]

6 out of 63, that was a small number compared to what it should be. Adriana wondered if there was a stash of Core Medals somewhere in the world, she would expect there to be, but she was hoping that she would find at least a few Core Medals around here, "I suppose you have teams looking for them?" she asked.

[Harper Garret]

"We have a few sources trying" Harper said, rubbing her temples with her fingers to remember exactly what she was said. "The Greeeds went down all over and the black hole scattered OOO's own. If the US government manages to find the OOO Matrix first we'll be willing to cooperate and share materials."

[The Sentinels]

"An incentive...very good," Adriana said even though the US government may be allied with URSA they each have their own agenda even if the end was the protection of humanity. However for now they needed the monument for research, what kind of research Adriana didn't know, but she was sure that they had something in mind. "We look forward to continuing our partnership."
