As Haruto Soma fought in New Zealand during the war, he was mortally wounded in battle. He fell inside of a cave he was fighting in, and his magic was released upon his death. The outburst of magic caused the stones inside of the cave to be converted into magical stones, but also caused the place to be filled with dangerous magic.
The Axcalibur fell outside and remains rooted in the ground to this day. Touching it is usually fatal. Entering the cave is usually fatal. Few who have magical talents have been able to enter for short periods of time and remove some stones, but not many.
