Timeless Love (Mayu)

[Shinji Yakamura]

"I see...that is a terrible thing," Shinji said as he chuckled, "sometimes I wished that I could erase some memories. The bad memories that I don't want to keep, memories that I prefer I don't have to relive each and every day," as he looked to the ancient tree. "Sometimes I wished that I could go back in time and redo things..."

[Mayu Inamori]

She smiled at him, her lips curling softly. "That's what it means to be human. The good..the bad. It all makes you a part of who you are. I accepted everything and moved forward, because I didn't want to dwell on the past. I earned the right to become a mage, and even though my rings were made from a false hope, I could still use them to save people, and fight for what mattered to me. If I had the ability to modify my memories..I'd reject that wholeheartedly." He can probably see a light aura around her, gold and blue, without actually anything being there.

[Shinji Yakamura]

"I see...then perhaps humanity still has some hope," Shinji said, "it's been a while since I last saw someone who wanted to help people despite their own problems. But then again URSA has been doing it even if they're been disappointing me at the moment," as he sighed and looked at her, "you have a good heart...don't lose it to the darkness I would hate to break it," he said jokingly.

[Mayu Inamori]

"Don't expect perfection. It's a lost art." She replied jokingly. His revelation here helped his case a little bit. "URSA? They tried to get me to join them. A number of people have tried to get me to join them. But I'm above their power dynamics. I'm surely an asset to them in more than one way, but this power exists for defeating monsters..." she trails off before begrudgingly adding, "Those that would kill people. You made me remember an old friend of mine. A Fangire. She was a sweet and loving person, that although she had a dark side and had killed people with it, didn't enjoy that dark side or the need for life energy. I could have fought her, but I took a risk and believed in her good side. She did not disappoint me."

[Shinji Yakamura]

"I'm not surprised, URSA is recruiting anyone with the power to fight against the Kaijins, investing in technology too. I've been helping out with my human front, but apparently that's not enough for them; to be honest I don't trust them that much...but I need as many allies as possible to destroy the Kaijins once and for all." He then looked at Mayu and nodded, "I respect that...Kaijins that try to curb their monster desires, the Fangires are the worst alongside the Grongis, but at least they are being tamed and controlled; can Kaijins become good? I don't know...but it shows you that not all Kaijins are evil."

[Mayu Inamori]

"I knew an Orphenoch that chose to live as a human. He also knew others like him. I imagine it was hard for him, but, he was a good man.." She trails off, remembering him fondly.

[Shinji Yakamura]

Shinji nodded thinking of those that tried to live peacefully though they failed when humans began to turn against them.

[Mayu Inamori]

Mayu shakes her head, recovering. "So. What's your story then, deity? Apparently there was someone like me before?"

[Shinji Yakamura]

"Ah yes..." Shinji said now his turn to become nostalgic, "during the Senoku era there was...a princess from a Japanese clan. She...she didn't know about my true nature, but she visited me daily while I was pretending to be a merchant; we slowly fell in love with one another and it was the first time I actually considered whether or not I should stay with a human. However...a rival clan wanted her to marry their heir and she refused, they then killed everyone in her family including her...I came too late and could only watch as she slowly bled to death...the rest is history as they say though needless to say that rival clan has not survived to the modern age."

[Mayu Inamori]

"That's rough...about as rough as what happened to me..And only magnified for you who had no one else to turn to.." Mayu mused aloud..

[Shinji Yakamura]

Shinji smiled, "I suppose so," he said, "we're both the same in some way: having burdens within us that no other people can dare to say they have. Burdens that can easily destroy us if we're not careful...but the difference is that you're on the side of light while I am in the shadows and fight those within the shadows."

[Mayu Inamori]

"Yeah. The burden of mine being a Phantom but not really because we're actually friends now." Mayu nods a bit.

[Shinji Yakamura]

"Being friends with a Phantom? That's the first I've ever heard about it," Shinji said, "you must have incredible willpower to be able to keep that Phantom in check."

[Mayu Inamori]

"I resisted her attempt to turn me to despair so long ago, and I ended up earning her respect instead. She likes it in my Underworld." Mayu gave

[Shinji Yakamura]

"Ah I see, not a lot of people are able to do that, to resist overwhelming despair is something that's not usually possible. I applaud you for it."
