Standing in a secluded forest Shinji often wondered what life would have been like if he was a mortal. As an ageless being he had seen the rise and fall of human empires and civilisation, some of which he destroyed himself because they became a threat to humanity, others because that was the natural order of things. He had seen many people that had made an impact throughout history and he was proud to know several of them such as Thomas Edison and Nobunaga Oda; however likewise there were also people that he liked and loved that withered away and died...with him unable to die because of his duty to the world.
One such person was a woman born during the Sengoku era, he could almost remember the way she looked and felt. Even though he was technically a monster did that mean that he could not feel love? Did that mean that he was not allowed to love a human? Sometimes he wondered if he had brought the curse upon himself, if he had become a true monster because of his duty to the world, Shinji sighed as he walked towards a spot in the forest. Here was where his lover fell in battle, murdered by another clan because she refused to marry their heir, at the time Shinji had no idea what had transpired until it was too late.
His retribution was swift and brutal, killing all members of the clan as he could only remember the rage and anger within him when that happened, he placed his hand on an ancient tree as he thought about her and what she would have done if she had lived.

The master mage walks through the forest, ensconced in her thoughts. While nothing major was on the agenda, she just enjoyed the peace and quiet. Just her dragon and her. Where for a time, she could block out thoughts about the past.

Shinji sensed that someone was coming, which was strange because rarely do people come to this part of the forest. However there were tourists and other people who enjoyed the walk so he supposed he couldn't blame them, leaving the tree he began to walk back not wanting to talk to anyone or be spoken to. He looked up and stopped dead in his tracks as he saw a woman with the same look as his lover from all those years ago as his mouth dropped. Surely this could not be happening...surely the dead could not rise again just when he was thinking about her as Shinji began to walk towards her still entranced by her.

She continues walking, not immediately noticing him. This was rather nice..the peace and quiet. She'd been feeling lonely lately, but had put it behind her. Her dragon was all she needed for company, and nothing else really came to mind for her.

Upon closer inspection Shinji was sure that it was her, she even looked the same, as he approached her carefully. "M-Marika?" he asked almost whispered to her.

She's distracted from her reverie. Someone was here? Looking over at him, she shakes her head. "I'm sorry, but that's not my name.." she said.

"A-ah...I see," Shinji said, "I'm sorry it's just that...you look like someone I knew a long time ago." Of course it couldn't he her! How stupid was he? She was dead, he saw her die and held her body and buried her with his own two hands...how could she still be alive after all this time.

"I see...Mayu huh? The one that lived through the war," Shinji said as he chuckled, "then I suppose there's no use in hiding my identity if you're that strong. You're right: my job as a CEO is merely a disguise, my real identity is the Overlord of Darkness; however I'm no longer the same man I was once was during the war."
