Overview:
Lies. Those are life for Jon. Jon has nothing else going for his life; it was all taken from him through the fault of a drunk driver. He lost his wife and his young daughter, and sought purpose in his life, because he needed something to take his mind and pain away from the truth. He found lies instead.
As a former history professor, he has a knowledge of the past, although he would once spew random facts out, he no longer does so. He can’t bring himself to remember parts of his past, because he was a teacher when he had a family. He doesn’t have that anymore, so he’s abandoned that.
He’s become withdrawn, a quiet observer. He’ll enter, watch, and sit silently. He likes to think that he might unnerve people with the way he acts, never saying a word, but taking in everything. If he’s confronted, he’ll use some wit, and then resort to violence quickly, out of his pent up anger.
He’s an emotional man, someone who acts on emotion more than anything else. He makes stupid decisions based on emotion and his heart more than anything else. He’ll think things through ideally, but once things happen, all of that goes away and he goes with his heart and gut. This gets him into a lot more trouble than he would like to be in.
He drinks a lot, finding solace in a bottle. He usually tries to stop before reaching the point of becoming drunk, but there are some times where he can’t avoid that. Due to how much he drinks, and the lengths he goes to to forget his family’s death, it’s not uncommon for him to sleep around with various women. After a night of drinking he’ll go to an old typewriter he has and try to hammer away at a story, but he doesn’t get far.
Even if the lies are a way of getting past everything that’s happened, he desperately wants it to be over. He wants to stop living lies, but knows he can’t while he’s with the Department, and leaving it isn’t an option. There’s a part of him that’s just waiting to die as a result.
He doesn’t stop until things are done, and is a great shot and decent fighter. He’s driven and determined, and tries to get things done as quickly as possible.

History
Jon’s life was good. He had a family that loved him, two older brothers to help him grow, and they were upper middle class. Life was good for him growing up. When his parents couldn’t be there for him, his brothers were. They fought, but they also learned about life together, and he grew to be a better man by knowing his brothers mistakes and successes.
In school his teachers always knew him because of his siblings having gone through first. They weren’t the best students, so some of his teachers had it out for him. Jon strove to prove them wrong, and did well in all of his grades, and all of his classes once he hit middle and high school.
While one brother went off to join the army, the other was shot and paralyzed in a mugging. He would later commit suicide, leaving Jon alone. He kept on his path, pushing himself to his studies to avoid having to feel.
He went into teaching and became a history professor at a local college. It had all paid off so far for him, and the debt was minimal due to his family helping him through. While he was there he met a teaching assistant and began dating her. The two would marry a few years later and have a daughter.
One night they were hit by a drunk driver, nearly killing Jon, but killing everyone else. Jon was destroyed and later recruited by the Department when they needed his expertise. He refused to give it, being in such a broken state, but they got it out of him eventually, and maybe it was forced, or maybe he needed something new, but Jon joined with them.
He took to their training well and was made into a Ranger in about two years before being sent off to his new home. He was going to now run missions for them, and didn’t care if he lived or died, really.
He turned to drinking, some writing, and then women to drown out the sorrows of his past, unsure if lies were better or not.
