Overview:
Having grown up in the dystopian society of North Korea for much of her childhood, Sun-Hwa is understandably distant and reluctant to make friends. She has a particularly nasty temper and often hates it when others are intruding on her privacy, especially if she’s listening to music. She has a habit of speaking things very bluntly and often refuses to sugarcoat her words, which sometimes makes her come off as being cold and uncaring. That said, she loves her family dearly, and with time and effort, can be made to open up and even crack a smile.
What Sun-Hwa lacks in sociability, she makes up for with her skills. She is a talented fighter, holding a black belt in taekwondo, and often likes to test out new technology, which is a useful trait when handling something like the Beetleborgs arsenal. She has a no-nonsense approach when in combat, analyzing her opponents moves and reacting accordingly, which helps make up for her lack of experience.

Growing up in North Korea, Park Sun-Hwa had had to experience much loss early in her life. Friends she had met in school would not show up the next day, others would disappear when the dreaded men in military uniforms came to take suspected traitors and their entire families to the gulags. When her sister died from a lack of food, she couldn’t even work the urge to cry, having seen death far too many times for a child to witness. Yeo-Jin’s death finally prompted her parents to try and escape, fleeing across the Yalu River and evading Chinese border authorities, during which Sun-Hwa had to learn to fend for herself, imposing on her a need to be self-reliant. Finally, they were able to reach a South Korean consulate and attain asylum, settling in Seoul.
Sun-Hwa proved to be a gifted student, passing her classes with exceptional grades and getting admitted to university. However, the sheer culture shock of living in the South compared to her previous life in the North was overwhelming and made her reluctant to engage with others, preferring to listen to music, study, or play video games at the PC bang. Her parents encouraged her to try some type of activity and prompted her to enroll in taekwondo courses, where she proved to be an adept practitioner.
At a cross in her life, whether to continue her studies or continue her taekwondo practice and perhaps try out for the Olympic team, she received a mysterious package one day, sender unknown. In it was a handheld device she had never seen before in any store. A few days later, a monster attacked her dormitory, unknowingly, Sun-Hwa activated the device and was enveloped in a red light, power surged through her body as she transformed into the Red Striker Beetleborg and proceeded to kill the monster. With the world still recovering from the effects of the Convergence, and surrounded by threats from the Zangyack to unknown enemies, Sun-Hwa set out to find who exactly gave her the Beetle Bonder.
