Overview:
Ian is a man of compassion, honor and virtue. He attempts to look for the good in people, or the darkness in people. Once he sees it one way, it's hard to get him to change his opinion of you. That first look at a person and who they are is what usually cements how he feels and will treat people for the time he knows them.
He is capable of great compassion towards the people he deems to be good. He's also very much a man of his word, and once he makes a promise he is honor bound to keep it, no matter what, and no matter how his feelings may change over time. He does look for something back, though. He doesn't just make promises and deals out of the good of his own heart, he makes deals so that he also benefits in some way.
He's very mature and independent, and often knows exactly what he's doing, instead of making random chances or anything. He can be manipulated, as he believes that everyone should have the same sense of honor and morals that he has. If someone breaks his deal and betrays him, he would never suspect it until they actually do turn against him. His honor can be abused and taken advantage of as such, and the fact that he's a compassionate man can also be easily taken advantage of.
Ian has the potential to be very stubborn at times, and only a few things can get him to change that. Mostly deals, honor, virtue, his sister, and things like that. He's also rather selfless at times, but only for those who he can see are good and pure of heart. He'd do anything to help those people.
He's intelligent and rather down to earth. He's honest and will outright tell people things that he finds to be faults in them, and really anything else. His honesty might be too much at times, so he works to control it. If it's working, who knows?
He would do anything for his sister, and that might be his greatest weakness. His love of family.
He inspired his sister to take up photography. He's a bit jaded in the practice of it himself, but he does find the soul in it and in what he photographs, and brings it out in every picture he takes. He's jaded, but still knows enough to do it properly.

History
Ian was given up for adoption by parents he's never known. He was adopted by the Pope family when they were unable to have children of their own. He was raised as an only child by a loving family who didn't care that he wasn't theirs. To them, he was their child, and growing up knowing that was all that mattered to Ian later in life.
About three years after being adopted, Alexis was born, thus rending the adoption moot, but his parents never saw it that way. They truly loved Ian. Ian wasn't sure what to think of having a little sister, so he avoided the baby for the most part until she started to grow up and the two could properly play together and such. They bonded quickly at that point.
As they went through school, Ian gave her what help he could in classes and such. It wasn't until he was about ten that he started to ignore her, because it was more or less that part of his life that he stopped finding it good to hang out and play with a younger sister. She was hurt at first, but started to find her own friends then.
He enjoyed his time with his friends, and then when he turned fifteen he started to make amends to Alexis. The two bonded again. It was around this time that Ian started to enjoy photography because of a class assignment. He got a nice camera for a birthday present and started to enjoy his time taking pictures. He learned the finer points of photography and started to teach Alexis as well, since she seemed interested in both spending time with him, and in learning.
After he graduated high school he began to attend a local college while also doing photography on the side as both a hobby and a way of getting some extra money. He continued to help Alexis since he still lived at home, and the two still spent a lot of time together.
A few years later, Alexis got accepted into a European college on a scholarship for her tennis playing. He found it hard to see her go, as did she. She left, and he continued his education, finishing in a year or so after that. He began to do photography as his actual job then.
A few years later, after she returned, the two reunited and the family got together. They would go do photography together and catch up, but by this point Ian was a bit jaded with it. He still put energy into it with Alexis around, however. During one of their times out, both siblings were encountered by the spirit of the Thunder Pterodactyl Zord and gained the power of the jewel it carried. It chose them as its guardians and warriors, giving them both the power to become the Dino Charge Gold Ranger, even at the same time, making them a combination in battle.
The two fought the initial Zangyack invasion and helped repel the alien army. They remain close now, since they're a team and both only have half of the Pterodactyl's jewel. They refuse to leave each other again (going to different cities/states/countries) for this reason. Both have had thoughts that this binds them and restricts their lives, but they love each other enough that it doesn't bother them too much.
