Messiah is the goddess-like creator/originator of the Horrors, demon beasts that feed on the inner darkness of humanity. Twenty years ago a group of brave Makai Knights - lead by EDEN, Knight of God - banded together and managed to engage her. The battle lasted days, and more Knights joined the fight, along with more Priests and Priestesses. Many lives were lost, but finally Messiah was destroyed; not sealed like other Horrors, but completely wiped out. EDEN also lost his life and armor.
The Makai Order rebuilt and regrouped while continuing to protect humanity from the normal scourge of Horrors, but their numbers decreased after Messiah fell. Some pondered if this meant the end of Horrors, but it was only the beginning of something worse.
Messiah had followers in the Horror world, their numbers unknown. Each of them was an apostle of Messiah's, and bore a monicker invoking her name. "Messiah's Fang", "Messiah's Tear", and so on. These great Horrors declared war against the Makai Order, however, the Order had one advantage. Following Messiah's death, all of these Horrors were weakened and had to regain their power.
The apostles are growing in power once more, and the Makai Order is still attempting to see to their deaths. The apostles are poised to strike, and the world hangs between both factions.
Some believe the apostles are trying to revive Messiah, while others discount it, but still fear it may be true. They are powerful and zealous, and that strikes fear into the Order, even if the apostles are weaker than Messiah herself.
