Something went horribly, horribly wrong.
Infamous intergalactic criminal "Agent" Abrella had attacked the Chronos Institute and Time Preservation Department headquarters, The "Blue Box".
He and twelve other "Chronal Renegades" hijacked an experiment ship and used it to travel back through time.
A group of seven highly trained TPD specialists, known collectively as the Timerangers, took the only other ship and went in pursuit.
It was there, in the timestream, that something.. happened..
An intense blue flare from the first ship engulfed the second.
The thirteen Renegades and six Timerangers are then separated throughout time...

Drench felt solid ground beneath him. He picked himself up, struggling to stand. He felt sand surrounding him, and realised he was on a beach. Where and when was anyone's guess. He calmly dusted himself off and shook his head to clear it.

A speck could be seen on the horizon as it got nearer, one could tell that is was clearly an old fashioned boat of some kind. As it got nearer, loud ritualistic drumming could be heard.

"What is..." Drench squinted at the boat. If only he had telescopic implants, then he'd know. Alas, such was life. He remained stationary, even as the drumming filled his ears.

Eventually the longboat pulled a shore and a dozen buff hairy men filed out, armed with clubs and axes, all with scowls upon their faces.
On closer inspection, their ship looked highly damaged and many of them looked somewhat injured and burned.

Drench stepped back. These people didn't exactly look welcoming. He took one look at their ship, and then at their weapons. He clearly wasn't in the 30th century anymore.

The one that seemed to be their leader stepped forth. He spoke, not in any tongue likely known by Drench, but immediately translated into English by the universal translator function on Drench's Chrono Changer.
"Are you a God?"

Drench was surprised. He had momentarily forgotten about the universal translator.
"No." he said, shaking his head. To say "yes" was probably a big no-no, especially this far back in time.

"But we saw you," he scowled, "Fall from the sky in a bright blue light. You must be a God, cast from Asgard onto the mortal plane of Midgard!"

They saw him? Was his cover blown?
"Yes, about that," he began "did you see anyone else fall?"

He looked back at his men and then back to him.
"You were the one and only. Tell us God, is Ragnorak finally upon us?"

"I certainly hope not." Drench replied, looking up at the sky. "What makes you think it is?"

"Our vessel was attacked out in sea," he explained, "By a flying metal monstrosity! It could only be a minion of the schemer god Loki himself! We barely made it with our lives!"

Flying metal monstrosity? It could only be a Chronal Renegade.
"Describe it." he said quickly.

"It looked sort of like that," pointed one of the men. A robotic squid-like creature came into view. It was about the size of the vikings' ship and was floating non-nonchalantly through the air towards them.
