Finding himself with nothing to do, Rene spent time practicing with his knife. The two bladed design was unconventional, but he found it worked for him. It left two marks in its target, like the fangs of a spider...or a vampire. Rene was certainly all about two fangs. He had two on his arms, and on his face as a Fangire. It was sort of like his motif.
He flicked his knife away and grabbed his jacket. His father didn't approve of the jacket. Then again, that man never really approved of anything Rene did, from the casual way he dressed to his search for answers about his mother. It irritated him so. Why did he have to change because some crusty old tradition said so?
He sat in a cushy armchair by a table, placing his boots on the top of the table and relaxing.

Silas wasn't in his full armor, as he was home. Instead, he wore a slightly more casual outfit, but he still carried himself with his normal dignity. He walking to the library to look for something in the annals, when he caught a familiar stench; his cousin Rene. Had it been a different time, Silas might have attempted to talk to him, tried to do what Uncle Nicolai had been trying to do for Rene's whole life, but he'd learned his lesson. It would do no good. He simply continued walking. Some days he envied the carefree nature of his cousin, some days he despised it. Today was one of the latter days, but he had things to do.

Oh lord. He was somehow dressed even more fruity than he normally did. Rene held back a laugh. His baby cousin looked as stoic as ever, but he could still tell his presence wasn't wanted.
"What are you up to, little cousin?" he asked. There was a time and a place for tradition, but today was not that day. With Rene, it was never that day.

Silas took a deep breath, and turned to Silas. "I'm going to look something up in the Annals, if you don't mind." He turned and continued walking towards the library.

"What kind of stuff?" Though he wouldn't admit it, Rene was hoping that it was Fangire lineage. He could really use that in the search for his mother.

"I'm looking up possible remnants of the old Demon Races." There were races older, hardier than the ones his predecessor and father had partnered with. They just didn't play well with others. Silas was hoping to change that.

"Now, what could you hope to accomplish by doing that?" Rene asked. If the races were even willing to show their faces, he doubted they'd play nice with Fangire.

"I need Arms Monsters if I'm to ever be able to be a competent wielder of Kivat's power." Silas replied. He also failed to mention he believed the Arms Monsters could help him find Zanvat, the old Sword of the King, which had been lost since the death of the Kurenai line.

"Why?" Rene shrugged. "You're doing just fine on your own." Admittedly, it wasn't often he gave compliments. When he did give them, however, one could count on the fact that they were sincere.

"Our enemies are legion and varied, and I will need to be able to wield different powers should I encounter something I can't defeat with simply Kivat's power." Every Kiva of the Kurenai line and his father had both embraced this truth, and Silas was no different. Rene had offered a rare compliment but it meant nothing; even if he'd been doing fine up to this point, who knew what the future held.

"What if there was, like, more than one Kiva?" Rene suggested. "That'd probably make all our lives easier." If there was more than one Fangire line, were there more Kivas out there?

"Kivats the Second and Third died in the war, Kivat the First has been dead for centuries, and I have no intention to produce a Kivat the Fifth any time soon." Kivat chimed in, flapping in and alighting on Silas's shoulder. "There are no other Kivas. Unless there were other Kivats, which I'm pretty certain there aren't." "If another Kiva were out there, he would be a traitor." Silas mentioned. "And making our lives easier is the least of our concerns at the moment."

"It's nice to see you too, Kivat." Rene said. "And how do you know he'd be a traitor?" He had a feeling that this would only draw Silas into one of his "URSA is so evil" tirades. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that.

"Because he'd be hiding one of the most valuable resources the Order has from it; a living Kivat." Silas replied. "We only have the one; if there were another without our knowledge in the possession of one of our subjects, them hiding it would constitute treason."

Rene shrugged. "Good enough." But what if they didn't want to share? Rene would certainly feel that way. Perhaps anyone who held another Kivat shared his thought that the Order wasn't really all that.
