The incident with the silver box had left Adam incredibly tired. More than usual. The box had been put in the care of the science division, to see if they could open it. Adam, meanwhile, had returned to his job tending to the many machines of the Universal Rider System Association. It also happened to be his lunch break.
While he was sure the on-site refreshment services were excellent, he chose to frequent a nearby bakery that provided most excellent pastries and warm beverages. While Adam always kept a bottle of MORNING RESCUE! on his person at work, he always ordered a warm drink. It refreshed his senses and provided him with that special touch...
Wait. Touch.
That was the key to opening the box. When he'd handled it, it had reacted to his touch.
This was brilliant! He could open the box!
Of course, no-one else realised this. Instead, they saw him with a strange look on his face.

Miko was in her office mode, getting her own lunch. She generally sat alone, in the corner. She liked being able to see the whole room, and didn't like other people sitting near her. They distracted her.

One thing of note about the bakery was the abundance of reflective surfaces, which was bad news. One never knows when a Mirror Monster may appear. One, however, did. A Wildboarder by nature. It spawned from a window right into the middle of the bakery, and started rattling off shots at anyone within range. Unfortunately that included Adam, who ducked underneath his table and remained there.

Miko reacted on instinct, flipping her table onto it's side to use it as cover. That had the unfortunate effect of sending her lunch flying, but she was more interested in making sure she didn't get shot. She began searching for her Driver and Seed, knowing she had both.

The Wildboarder took a shot at the bakery's counter, blasting several poor, innocent pastries to their deaths. The remaining customers made their way outside, leaving Miko and Adam in the same room as the trigger-happy monster.

MATSUBOKKURI ARMS! ICHIGEKI IN THE SHADOWS!
A pinecone appeared and dropped behind an overturned table in the corner, which began moving forward rapidly towards the beast. Miko tossed the table aside when she got close enough, swinging her Kagematsu wide.

Thank goodness at least one Rider's here. Adam thought as he slowly moved from cover to cover, avoiding stray blasts such as one that crossed way too close when the monster was struck by the Kagematsu and lurched violently to the side.

Miko spun, using the momentum of the spin to bring her Kagematsu around for another hit. She doubted she was enough to beat this thing on her own, but she was enough to hold it off. Maybe if she got it outside.

As the Wildboarder reeled again, it fired a blast at the window, shattering it into tiny shards. Seizing the opportunity, Adam jumped out from behind cover and yelled at the beast "Hey! Over here!" Then he jumped through the window and outside, the Mirror Monster following him and shooting at him.

Damn him... Miko followed quickly, trying to keep a bead on the creature, keep it's attention on her until backup arrived.

Luckily, that didn't take long, as a red-and-blue clad hero came swinging in on a line, kicking the Mirror Monster onto its back. "Whoops~" the hero said. "You should watch where you're standing next time. You could get hurt!"

Miko jumped a little as the new arrival burst onto the scene. This was certainly an odd surprise, but backup was backup. She raised her Kagematsu to ram it into the monster.

The trigger-happy monster found itself kicked by a strange new hero in red and blue, combined with the attack of the Kagematsu, and fell backwards, its chest-cannon thing firing even more.
Watching from the sidelines, Adam's jaw dropped. That was completely unexpected.

Tomoko sighed. "He just doesn't know when to give up, does he...?"

Miko said nothing, continuing to try and stab the monster.
