After digging out his gear tracker, Dominic swung the bag containing the rest of his equipment back on to his shoulders.
His reason for being there was simple. If URSA wanted him to acquire some tech for them, then they needed to give him something to go on. He wasn't about to go spelunking round any rider monuments putting himself in danger without first knowing what he was up against. He knew for a fact that they had all manner of data on practically anything there was to know about the Kamen Rider phenomenon, so he figured someone around here would be able to update his tracker.
"It's the least they can do," he said in Swiss German.

Cristina descended a staircase with two ZECTroopers at her sides. She didn't need them, but she did enjoy having their presence, if only to make them do pointless escort work. These two weren't involved in her shooting, but she didn't care. ZECTroopers were ZECTroopers, and wasting the time of any of them was fine with her.
"Geiszler, correct?" she called across the room as she walked towards the man, hands in her labcoat pockets.

"That's me," he replied, as the blonde scientist and her ZECTroopers approached.
As a gear privateer, Dominic did one thing and one thing only. URSA knew that, and yet still they expected him to unearth all kinds of rider gear without so much as a hint, clue or lead. Shocker had been spotted in a number of specific concentrations around Japan (sites known to have some kind of Kamen Rider involved). He'd been contacted to investigate. The assumption was that they were looking for something. But they were still just monsters. They'd lost their intelligence a long time ago. They didn't just congregate of their own accord... did they?
A scientist or analyst somewhere must have decided it far too suspicious to leave unchecked, but a little too routine and boring to leave to any of their true employees.
"I was looking for someone who might help me out. You URSA lot are consistent with the work offers, I'll give you that, but I'm gonna need something more to go on this time."

"Of course you will," she said as she stopped a few feet from him. Her two escorts stood there, unsure of why they had been brought along, but didn't dare ask their superior, "There are a number of sites we've had our eyes on, but those have been thoroughly investigated by this point, to the best of our abilities. I'll spare you those because you may have seen them already," she was referring to sites such as the Zanvat Sword, or the cave filled with magic stones or even the destroyed Mount Rushmore where they were still trying to excavate the Medajalibur.
She reached into her pocket and withdrew a small, damaged object, "This is a damaged Astro Switch. Number 1, Rocket. We found this located in the woods of Japan. Our last records don't indicate Fourze having fought there, but yet that's where this was located. And of course, we don't know what became of him or his Driver. We figured this investigation would be right for someone like you to look into."

"I guess I'll see what I can do." He sighed.
Dominic booted up the gear tracker and waved it over the damaged rocket switch. Not a lot happened truth be told, but he expected as much. It was however pinging very slightly in the direction of cosmic energy, before fading back out again.
"I'll tell you now though..." he tapped the switch lightly, "if all the Fourze gear out there is as bashed up as this little guy we're going to have to boost the power of my tracker."

"I can see to it," she told him, looking at the two troopers, "Go and open my lab back up. Now." The two ran back upstairs without a word. Cristina looked back to Dominic, "Please, come with me. I'll give you the upgrades you will require for this search. It shouldn't take me too long to give you the boost."

"Excellent," he said. "Lead the way."
Even with the tracker upgrade, he felt he needed more to go on. 'Anything related to Fourze' was a wide field of expertise, and he knew little about all that. In fact, it often paid to keep insider knowledge at arms length. All the better to maintain plausible deniability if things turned sour while employed.
"Do we have any indication of what's could be out there, or am I pretty much flying blind on this one?"

"We know nothing," Cristina admitted as she walked with him, "It could be his entire belt, it could just be a handful of Switches." She looked back at him, "It could be nothing, and we're just wasting your time unknowingly. We really don't know anything about this situation."
She opened the door to her lab and walked over to a computer system. She began to type, "I'll begin the upgrade process, if you'd please give me your tracker."

Dominic chuckled. "Nice to know I'm not the only one in the dark."
That presented him with another challenge. It wasn't that he didn't trust URSA, they come through for him in the past, but something had turned Dr. Kline against them. When one man is responsible for dragging you out of the gutter, a certain amount of that distrust rubbed off on you.
He handed her the tracker. "Don't break anything," he said with a wink, almost immediately berating himself for it.
Another one of those bad habits I need to get rid of.

"I don't intend to," she said, placing it on the table. She drew a cable from her computer and plugged it into the tracker, then hit a button to begin the data upgrade. "It'll be done in a few minutes," she told him, "It's the best we can do. I'd prefer it to be a faster process."
This wasn't overly important, so time and upgrades weren't used here. They were used elsewhere, and besides, a few minutes to do an upgrade like this wasn't bad. Cristina was the one primarily working with it, so it bugged her, but to everyone else it was deemed as fast enough.

He blinked. This girl is colder than anyone I know... and that's saying something.
Dominic didn't know many people in Japan. He knew only those he'd worked with at URSA and a few other besides. Even back home he didn't have much in the way of friends, he was still working on gaining people's trust after that. He met some pretty business oriented folk in his time as a privateer, but this was something else.
"What do you do with yourself when you're not doing, you know, this?"

She turned to him, a bit confused why he was engaging in conversation with her. She regarded him with cold eyes for a few moments, then spoke, "I do this," she said, "I work. I eat, I sleep. There's nothing else important in my life. If you haven't noticed, we're fighting a losing war. Anything else is far from my mind."

"Well... I do see your point but," he paused for a second to choose his words carefully. He knew what he wanted to say but he didn't want to upset her unnecessarily. Dr Kline had taught him the value of holding your tongue once in a while. "Put it this way. How can one be objective about what constitutes true evil if you don't first appreciate what life has to offer?" Something else the doctor taught him...

"Because monsters are trying to tear everything apart and slaughter innocent people. It's easy enough to figure out who's who and who's on which side," she stated, "Humans kill each other, yes, but monsters are the enemy who slaughter innocent lives. It's easy enough to see."

"Ah, but are you protecting people for the sake of it? Are we protecting people at all? There's a difference between being a hero 'cause you feel you ought to, 'cause society says you should, and being a hero because you have to be, because you can't do anything else." He sighed. Clearly he wasn't going to get this woman to open up any time soon. "It takes more than analysis to figure that out."
"Here it is: I've traveled a lot, okay. I've seen just about all there is to see when it comes tragedy and suffering, and you know what? I got damn sick of sitting around testing tech all day." He frowned slightly, wondering if he said too much. "That's why I do what I do. I'm not a fighter, I'm just doing what I can."
