"You and I are different," she told him, "I prefer my technology. I'm a Rider, but not of my own choice. I'm far from a fighter, and wouldn't care one way or the other if I were a Rider or not. Technology is who I am, it's how I make my mark on URSA and this world."
She turned to check the monitor, then looked back at him, "So many people die, and so many people have died at the hands of these monsters. I will do everything in my power to prevent more death."

"I hope you do. Humanity needs people like you." Dominic smiled. "Just... don't forget that your power includes being a rider too. I'm sure there'll come a day when you won't have a choice. Well, that day might just come for us all."

"If we're doing our jobs right, then it will never come," she told him. "URSA will keep me from ever having to fight, and if that day comes, then that'll mean we've all failed in our missions."

"If URSA falls and you're the last rider left alive... you'd let them win? Even if you knew how to deal the final blow?" He raised an eyebrow. "I know you're a rider for a reason, perhaps you just haven't found it yet."

"The Zecters choose their leader. I was chosen by it, and I don't know why. I have no combat abilities. Should that situation come, and I can deliver the final blow and I do know how to, then I shall. But nothing is ever that easy."

"Then maybe your Zecter is trying to tell you something... I don't know." He knew very little about Zecters. In fact, his knowledge was more or less limited to ZECTroopers on that front.
"There is one thing we have in common though. Neither of us want to be violent people. If we can help it. But being a rider means you have a responsibility. I try to embrace that."

"My responsibility is as a scientist first. Not a Rider. Being a Rider is secondary, if that. Tertiary. Not important. The most important thing to me is to continue my work and help URSA advance and survive. By helping URSA, I help humanity. That is by far the most important thing."

"Well, when you're chosen, you're chosen. I suppose that's all I can say." What was taking the upgrade so long? Sooner this was over the better. Finish the job. Get paid. Move on. Far, far easier than trying to help.
The irony wasn't lost on him. He'd had to steal rider powers to get them, she had them thrust upon her and flat out ignored their existence. The Lord works in mysterious ways, mysterious ways indeed.

She opened her mouth, but then the computer beeped. She looked to the side at the monitor and then shut her mouth as she hit a few keys. She unplugged the device and handed it over towards the man, "Done."

Taking the gear tracker in hand, he activated it's freshly upgraded systems. The cosmic energy reading from earlier was now fairly strong. An intermittent signal, yes, but it was there.
"Hey, thanks." He turned the tracker off and slipped it back into his bag. "Look, I know you must think I'm awful, but seriously. If you need anyone to talk to, anyone at all, I'm happy to be that sounding board... well, whenever I'm in town. Sometimes we all need to let it out, know what I mean?"

She nodded, "I do know. But that's not me," she told him, "I'll hear your offer, but don't expect me to ever take you up on it." That was who she was. She did things her own way and didn't need to listen to others or use them in any way.
