Drench observed the machine. He didn't know machines could feel emotions.
"Interesting." he mused.

That interesting machine then showered the beach with lasers. The vikings attempted to take cover, but a laser hit one and disintegrated him on the spot.
"May he forever feast in the halls of Valhalla," muttered the viking leader and his men nodded in agreement.

"No, no, no, not now!" Drench shouted, stabbing at the machine again.

The squidriod cried out once more, this time attempting to grab Drench by the ankle and toss him into the ocean.

Another tentacle came clean off causing the squidriod once again to howl in fury and pain. It was about this time that the vikings below hurled their chains and hooked themselves a giant metal fish.
The squidriod made no effort to squirm and simply cut through the cuts with a few precise laser blasts.
UNIT..DAMAGED..IN NEED OF IMMEDIATE REPAIR.. said the creature in its cold metallic voice, BEGINNING TRANSPORT..PROCESS..
The squidroid's body began to vibrate and glow with a faint red energy.

"Transport?" Drench repeated. Then he realised what that meant. "Transport!" he cried again and leaped for the squidroid. It wasn't going to leave without him.

As soon as Drench came into contact, the squidriod opened up a wormhole and zipped right in, taking Drench with him.
The portal closed, leaving the vikings both confused and overjoyed.
"The Blue God is victorious!" cried out the leader, "Now men! Back to the ship, we continue our journey to the west!"
The vikings cheered once more as a red haired women watched them from the treeline before vanishing.
