She rolled her eyes, smiling softly. "You're so hopeless, Kai! The company's important but you don't need to think about that every second. Or even Shinkenger stuff. You should devote some time to other thoughts. I swear everything won't fall apart or burn to the ground if you do!" He'd probably think the reverse of her, feel she should think about her obligations more than she did. It wasn't that she loathed them exactly. They could just be a bit restricting and she liked to breath freely when she could.
Rei chuckled. "If only Mother met you. She'd be very pleased. I'm sure she'd much rather have had you for a child." Mother loved her but she didn't seem to grasp the concept of an outside life and she didn't much care for the way Rei did.

"No, it won't all fall apart," he said. He looked directly at her, "But it is what my mother left me. My father says he can handle it, but he's not of the Shiba blood. I must make it my duty to continue its growth and development, as grandfather wanted. Only I can do that now, until my child takes over." He didn't even suggest "our child" or anything like that, because he didn't want to make it sound like he was going to push her to something. He wasn't looking that far ahead yet, but he was nearly thirty years old, he probably should.

She felt slightly guilty about rebuking him when he mentioned his family history. She knew the history was really important to him. He didn't want to let his family down. Sometimes Rei wondered if she was a terrible person for being the way she was. If her mother hadn't died she would have gone much farther away to study for college. She did her shinkenger duty but...she supposed others could doubt her priorities. But Rei didn't think it was wrong to want something more than being a Shinkenger. And what she wanted she chased after. Who said she couldn't do more? She didn't remember reading that rule in the non-existent Shinkenger handbook.
"My child?" she asked lightly. "Not our child?" She chuckled. "I'm going to slap you if you say you're thinking about having a baby with another woman." Kai was 28 and she was 24. She didn't think it was out of the question to start thinking about marriage. Not like she was going to push Kai. He had enough pressure already. There was no need for her to add to it.
But she wanted a future, proof that she had a life outside this whole...whatever the hell it was. She thought a family would be the best kind of proof. And if she was going to have a husband she'd be damned if it wasn't Kai.

He set down his cup and turned to her, "Well...," he started, sighing, "If I said 'our child', I wouldn't know if I was forcing you or not. For all I know, you might not want a child. I guess it's something that's never been discussed." He wasn't sure if he even wanted to discuss it, at least now. He had no time, that was the main problem that he was facing right now. If he had the time outside of the company, he'd feel better about it.

"We don't have to talk about it but for the record I do want a child some day. And not just some child, your child," she said bluntly as per her nature. It wasn't like she was in a hurry to have a baby. But she did want one eventually. And well...She supposed her life expectancy wasn't fantastic given her job.
She wouldn't be like her mother, though. She'd actually want to be involved with her kid's life, help train him or her.

He smiled, "We'd need two children then," he told her, "One to carry on the Shiba bloodline, and one to carry on the Yoshida bloodline. We can't lost the ShinkenPink legacy." He didn't talk about losing Red, since the Shiba blood and ShinkenRed was the leader, and the one who learned the ability to seal the Gedoushu, which was what was needed in the endgame. They couldn't be completely destroyed, but sealed? Yes.

She grinned. "I'm down with having two children. Besides, I was kind of lonely as an only child." Her mother was always gone. Dad was there all the time to train her and stuff but it wasn't the same as having an older or younger sibling to look after and play with. She chuckled. "Mother would roll out of her grave if she thought I'd let the ShikenPink legacy die. It was everything to her." More than her Father, more than her. She was secondary and she always knew it.

He was an only child as well, and he could see how she was lonely. He didn't get the concept as a child, because he was always so busy doing everything that he was asked of. The pressure and workload was too much for a child to even comprehend loneliness. "I'd like to say that as many children as possible would be best," of course, speaking hypothetically, "It would keep the bloodlines strong, instead of having only one member per family, as we are now."

Rei chuckled. "What am I, a baby making machine?" she teased. She grinned. "But really, I don't mind have several kids." She'd known she was lonely. She was busy but she had wanted someone else to understand her responsibility, her suffering. She was so young when she was told what she'd have to do for the rest of her life.

""I hate to say that, I really do," he told her, "If we marry, I would hate to put you through years of pregnancy to help our bloodlines like that. I don't know if I could ask you to, even if it is for the best of our families." That just sounded like torture, for the pregnancies, and then having to take care of all of them. If it was spaced out, maybe, but there would need to be more help available than just them.

She gently touched his shoulder. "It's okay, Kai. You don't have to ask. I might not be as nuts about the the whole duty thing as you are but I want to have your children and I want to make you happy. So I'll try to give you as many kids as you want." Of course she had no idea how feasible that would be. She didn't know how fertile she was or how long she'd live being Shinkenger Pink. But negative thoughts wouldn't help. All she could do was her best.

He lifted his hand up and took her hand into his. "I couldn't ask for anyone better," he told her softly." He touched his other hand to her cheek and leaned forward to give her a light kiss. She meant so much to him, and he didn't know what he would do without her in his life. Their relationship aside, he found her to be the one he trusted the most on the team, which was one reason he wanted to make her second in command.

Rei beamed as he took her hand. She was touched that she meant so much to him. Originally she'd been worried. She thought that maybe he'd get sick of her not being quite as duty centric as him. But that hadn't happened. They really did balance each other well. He could use her positive energy to look forward to something besides work and he helped her keep her razor sharp focus.
She returned his kiss, enjoying the touch of his lips against her for a moment. Really, all things considered she was lucky. Odds were if she wasn't ShinkenPink she never would have met him. And even if she had she wouldn't understand wouldn't be able to connect the way she had. No matter how frustrated she got with everything, no matter how depressed she was when they failed, all she had to do was think of Kai and she could pull it together. He made up for everything.

He drew back from her and ran his hand through her hair as he drew his arm back to his side. "How has work been?" he asked. He wanted to focus on something else, anything other than his life and his jobs right now. Her work with computers was something foreign to him (he wasn't that great with computers or anything), but it was still something he'd like to sit and listen to.

Rei leaned into his touch as he ran his fingers through her hair. She really loved it when he did that. He pulled away too quickly for her taste.
She chuckled at his question. "You know, the usual. People mucking up their computers and coming to me, hoping I can be some sort of miracle worker." She smirked. "Good thing I know what I'm doing." Her eyes glistened. "There is something exciting, though! I've been assigned to part of a team who is supposed to design a brand new computer. I can't wait!" She lived for that. She liked fixing but building was her passion.
