She beamed when he asked, happy he understood. "Yes," she said simply. He knew her. He'd understand she wasn't trying to use him for his money or anything. She cared about him and wanted there to be a day where she wouldn't have to leave him where his home would be their home and thy could see each other so much more often. She didn't expect that day to come soon. She just wanted to know that Kai was thinking about it. Because she didn't think she could stand it if she saw someone else end up his wife.

He looked down and took her hands into his. He looked back up at her and spoke slowly, "My birthday is soon. A few days. If my thirtieth birthday should come and everything is still as it is now, then I will marry you on that day. That is my promise to you. My word, my honor. You will be a Shiba, and my wife, and we will have our lives as one." He meant what he said, and he'd be ready by that point to marry her. He wasn't going to find a way out of this, he was going to marry her in a little over a year, if nothing happened.

Rei couldn't believe her ears. When she thought to have this conversation she'd never imagine she'd get such a definite and positive response. She blushed with joy. For once words caught in her throat and she had absolutely no idea as to what to say. Having lost her tongue she threw her arms around Kai's neck and simply hugged him. "Nothing would make me happier!" she finally managed to say.

He circled his arms around her, "Good, I'm glad," he told her. He felt the same, but he just wasn't as vocal about it. He probably should be, though, to at least make her happy, "It's a day I truly look forward to. I want to spend my life with you." Assuming nothing happened, of course.

Rei was surprised Kai was speaking so much. He was more the strong and silent type. Rei was the chatterbox out of the two of them. Althought to be fair most seemed like chatterboxes in comparison to him. She glowed with happiness, arms still wrapped around Kai. "Thank you," she breathed. She couldn't express how much all of this meant to her.

"There's no need to thank me," he told her, "You mean the world to me. I want to be with you, and nothing will stop me from that. We'll be together." Unless they died, of course. That was always on his mind, death, or some other similar circumstance. He didn't want it to get in the way, but there was sometimes no way to stop it.

Nothing will stop me from that? She wanted to believe him, truly. But people couldn't seriously make such promises, them least of all. They were Shinkengers and not a day went by when their lives weren't at stake. One or both of them could easily die on any given day. Not like she was going to say that. He knew the truth of it as well as her and negative thoughts were unproductive. Still, it was important to realize their mortality. Likely they would linger on this Earth less than most. "Kai, I love you." She didn't want to lie so that's all she could say. But to her it was enough.

He touched his hand to her cheek and drew his head in close to hers, "And I love you too," he told her softly, kissing her lightly for a few moments before drawing his head back. He just gazed upon her face, upon her beauty. This was a face he would gladly awaken every day to, he would gladly spend countless time with.

No words had ever sounded more beautiful. She leaned into his kiss, never wanting it to end. Rei blushed as he stared at her after drawing back his head. Kai really was handsome with his black hair, straight almost rigid posture and just...Well everything!
She took another sip of tea, unsure of what to say or do. But she just loved this, being with him. It felt so natural, so right.

He gave her one more smile and then came up to his feet, "I'm terribly sorry. I have to be going," he told her, "The office needs me back soon." He didn't want to leave her, but business was coming up soon, and it was important. He had to go to this board meeting and start planning out the future.

She stood with him and gave him one last hug. "Don't worry about it! Go do your duty!" she said with a bright smile. Rei chuckled. "I on the other hand don't have work until later so I'll be staying here to finish up my tea!" Tea which would be seriously cold by the time she actually finished it.

He smiled and gave her a nod, "Do as you need to," he said before hurrying inside. He'd have to put on his suit and head out quickly, but this was a good distraction, this was a good day. The future looked bright.

Rei rolled her eyes? Do as she needed to? She didn't need to do anything until work. So she was just going to kick back and have some much deserved me time. She took another sip of tea, smiling, not quite daring to believe just how well this morning had gone.
