To say the last few weeks had been somewhat chaotic for Sonya would be an understatement. Getting attacked in her own home by a killer alien death machine who tried to abduct her was one thing. Then the Convergence happened and the world was literally turned upside down, Seattle for the most part seemed to weather the event, although now the wreckage of the Lusitania was sitting precariously atop the Space Needle.
As her dingy little apartment got destroyed during her encounter with the machine, she had been staying at her parent's home, having come up with a half-convincing story that her place got damaged in a fight between the Black Celestial Ranger and a monster. She didn't wish to stay long though, with the Collector and his machines presumably still about, she did not want to risk endangering her family if they came looking for her.
In the meantime, Sonya had been going about town, seeing the areas where the Convergence had affected the city the greatest, seeing if there was anything she could do to help. Today, she was going by the waterfront near Pike Place Market.
"I'm heading out for a bit" She called out as she left the door.
"Dinner at 6, if you're late please call" her mother replied.
"Sure thing mom", Sonya answered back before heading out towards the bus stop.

She no longer needed to run. The presence of whatever it seemed to be that had followed her for so long seemed to be gone. Or...well, she had no idea. She had power now, and didn't feel it. Granted, it was always just intuition, backed up by brutal deaths, but not even her intuition got anything, so things were probably good.
But she was so used to moving and running. Sometimes things died hard, but she fought the urges. In this chaos she just looked around, taking it all in. She could swindle people, claim she'd lost everything, and be believed. But why bother? There was no reason anymore?
Because she wanted to? But that was terrible, doing it not out of need, but out of desire. And on top of that, she had a place now, a place to live and belong, and no longer needed to scam.
But habits died hard...
She stood amidst the destruction at one spot, just taking it in, thinking about those whom had lost so much now, and how she might have ended up.

The bus dropped off its passengers at a temporary stop near the waterfront. As Sonya disembarked, she got a good glimpse of the damage the Convergence had done to this area of the city. Pike Place's roof had caved in, the aquarium had been closed for repairs, meanwhile construction crews were hard at work to repair the damage.
Still, Seattle could count itself fortunate compared to Paris and other cities where the Convergence had had an even greater impact.
To Sonya's surprise, the local Starbucks was still open, she considered walking in for a coffee and pastry when she noticed one of the onlookers standing alone near what remained of the piers, close to the safety rope.

"I guess I was lucky," she muttered. She didn't quite know what was up with the House of M, but it was safe from damage. If she'd been living her old life, she might be dead now. Sure, it would be an escape from whatever had pursued her, but...but no. Life, even in fear, was better than death.
She started to walk from the spot she stood. The damage was starting to get depressing. She could at least respect the beauty and look of the places she fled to, and this was starting to get to be too much.

Sonya kept her gaze at the woman for a couple seconds before heading on her way, she seemed fairly innocuous, not much need to focus attention.
At the pier Caryn was overlooking, some construction workers were busy clearing some leftover wreckage out of the water. It was then one of the crewmen noticed what appeared to be a very large fin protruding out of the water near the damaged pier. Generally speaking, most large fish tended to avoid urban waterfronts...

Caryn wasn't paying much attention to anything in the water, and had her back to it. No bad feeling, which was probably a bad thing, had she known about it being there. She just happened to glance back as she turned to go, seeing something weird.
"That's not normal...," she muttered, looking down at it. She ran to try to find a way to get down there without just hurting herself and dropping. She had a duty now to do something.

The worker tapped his partner on the shoulder "Jay, I think there's something in the water".
Jay turned the other way, the fin was no longer in view. "Not seeing anything Carl, maybe it was a fish", he replied. Normally, he'd think his friend was just pulling a fast one, but in these days...
"I swear, I'm not lying. And it looked way to big to be a fish", Carl replied as he noticed Caryn drop down on the docks.
"Hey miss, this is a work zone, you should get back to the other-"
The hardhat's words were then interrupted by a large splash as the creature revealed itself, silver scales, red eyes, claws.
Jay leaped on the monster, trying to distract him so that his friend could flee safely. "Go! Call for help!" he cried.
Sonya materialized her morpher as the others fled the scene, heading towards the commotion.

Caryn flipped her Morpher out as she ran towards the monster. She wasn't letting someone die like this, not if she could be of help. She typed a code and thrust it forward, intending to send vines out to grab the man and pull him back to the land. While sending that spell out she typed her code and Morphed, drawing her staff into axe mode as she came close.

A closer glimpse of the creature would reveal that it was emaciated, hence why it chose to attack in open daylight. It threw Jay to the ground, intent on striking his vitals before dragging its prey into the sea. Luckily for Jay, Caryn's vines arrived just in time, pulling him out of the creatures reach as it struck the hardwood, struggling to get its hand out.
Sonya quickly morphed and rushed on scene, where Carl was trying to help his friend out of the vines,She and caught a glimpse of his rescuer, another Ranger.
"We've got this, get your friend to safety" She said before drawing her axe, noticing that her new ally had the same weapon before turning to face the creature, she had seen its type before.
"We need to peel those scales away, and watch those claws, their sharper than they look". She informed Caryn as the creature freed itself, now turning its attention to new prey.

She nodded and only glanced at her new Ranger ally. She didn't have time to focus on this, she needed to focus on the monster at hand and the danger it presented to the people here. She lifted her axe, "I'll do my best to expose it then," she told the other Ranger.
Her best approach might be to just attack with the axe and then pull up to try to rip the scales off, or something like that. She wasn't entirely sure, but it was worth a shot, if nothing else. She ran towards the monster.

The monster noticed Caryn charging at it and prepared to strike when a charged shot from Sonya's Header impacted on its chest. Thanks to its armored scales, the damage was minimal but it leave it open for Caryn's strike, screaming in pain as the blade cut off some of its scales on its left side.

She stumbled past it due to the weight of her weapon carrying her farther than planned. She stumbled around and drew the weapon up again as she faced the back of the monster. She couldn't do much damage on her own, she figured. It looked like a combination attack was the best bet.

Sonya saw Caryn on the other side, having figured out their next move as they both moved simultaneously to strike.
The creature however managed to pick up on this and dove back into the water. At first, Sonya thought they scared it off, but they had barely scratched the thing. She was about to check the other side of the pier when the creature leaped out of the ocean, claws extended, heading straight for Sonya.

"Damn," Caryn muttered, pulling out her Morpher. She type a code and thrust it out, trying to send vines from the land to slow down the monster before it could reach the other Ranger. She knew she wasn't fast enough to intercept, so this was the best she could do.

Were it not for the vines, Sonya would have been tackled and thrown into the water, which would have made killing the monster much more difficult. Thanks to Caryn, she was able to move out of its path, but not before the monster's claws managed a downward swipe at her left side, its specially enhanced claws sharp enough to tear through her suit.
She winced in pain, cursing for leaving herself open like that, as the creature dove back into the water to try again.
